I move that the Bill be now read a Second Time. I do not think it is necessary for me to speak at length on this Bill. The House will remember that, about two years ago, an Act was passed to enable a pension to be paid to the widow of the late Terence MacSwiney, Lord Mayor of Cork. The present Bill provides in the same way for the widows of two murdered Mayors of Limerick, Micheál Ó Ceallacháin and Seoirse Mac Fhlannchadha. The Bill was also intended to provide for a pension for the widow of Tomás Mac Curtáin, former Lord Mayor of Cork. Unfortunately, before the Dáil reassembled, Mrs. MacCurtain died on the 10th October last. Provision is made, therefore, for the payment of a gratuity to her daughter, Miss Síle MacCurtain, who nursed Mrs. MacCurtain through the last years of her life. The gratuity is of an amount equal to what would have been one year's pension to Mrs. MacCurtain. I am sure the Dáil will approve this Bill.
