Vol. 136 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fowl and Turkey Prices.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he will state what are the prices which will be payable for fowl and turkeys in 1953.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the price producers may expect for poultry during the coming season.

Mr. Walsh

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, totake Questions Nos. 149 and 155 together.

I intend to make an announcement regarding fowl prices within the next few days. As regards turkey prices, I would refer Deputy Dillon to the reply which I gave him on the 13th March, 1952, in which I indicated that the producer's price for turkeys in any Christmas season depends on the price expected to be realised on the British markets that season and that I was not in a position so early in the year to appraise what the price situation would be in the next ensuing season.
