Vol. 136 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Flax.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will indicate the position concerning flax for the coming season, and if he has any statement to make that will help the farmers of West Cork to decide on their plans for production.

Mr. Walsh

Prospects of a satisfactory market for flax of the 1953 crop are not promising and I can only advise growers of flax to go in for alternative crops for which there is a market, unless they have firm contracts for the sale of their flax crop.
