Vol. 136 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Relief of West Cork Unemployment.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will indicate the total amount of money allocated by his Department to the different districts of West Cork for the relief of unemployment, and the amount not yet expended.

The allocation from the Employment and Emergency Schemes Vote for the West Cork area in 1952-53 (including local contributions)amount to £17,412. This figure includes bog development schemes, rural improvements schemes and small marine works.

I am not in a position to state the amounts of these grants not yet expended, but the Deputy may assume that, with the exception of schemes in which difficulties may arise, they will all be expended before the end of the financial year.
