Vol. 136 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Roscommon Unemployment.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the grave unemployment that obtains in the Kiltullagh Electoral Division, County Roscommon; and, if so, whether he is prepared to sanction special employment scheme grants to remedy this situation.

The moneys available in the Employment and Emergency Schemes Vote are primarily intended to provide a spell of employment during the winter months to men in receipt of unemployment assistance. The proportionate share of the amount available has already been allocated to Kiltullagh Electoral Division, and I have no further funds at my disposal from which additional grants could be sanctioned.

In view of the very unsatisfactory nature of the reply given by the Parliamentary Secretary, I propose, with your permission, to raise this matter on the Adjournment.
