Vol. 136 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Selection of Tenants.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that the practice of the Land Commission in selecting vested tenants in preference to non-vested tenants in respect of migration schemes is detrimental to the interests of applicants in South Kerry; and, if so, if he will take steps to ensure that a fair proportion of each will be so selected.

The position is not as indicated in the first part of the question. In the selection of migrants, preference is given to persons whose surrendered lands will be of most benefit for the relief of local congestion, particularly by facilitating the rearrangement of unvested holdings.
