Vol. 136 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Acquisition.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the present position as regards the Annally estate, Gowran, County Kilkenny, and if the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring this estate for division; and, if so, with what result.

Proceedings are in progress for the acquisition of 774 acres on this estate.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he will state what progress has been made by the Land Commission towards the acquisition of the Kirwan estate, Gardenfield, Tuam, County Galway; and when they hope to be in a position to sub-divide those lands.

The proceedings in this case have reached the stage at which an appeal on price is pending for decision by the appeal tribunal. It is not yet possible to indicate whether or when the lands are likely to become available for allotment.

Do I take it that the Land Commission are acquiring this land for allotment to congests in the area and not for sub-division?

That I cannot say without notice I am afraid.

Because of the way the reply is worded I would ask the Minister to bring to the notice of the Land Commission the fact that this land is not being acquired for sub-division but for allotment amongst local congests.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission has recently considered the question of acquiring the land of Mrs. Cora Griffin, Altavilla, County Limerick; and, if so, if he will state what the present position is in this matter.

Proceedings were instituted for the acquisition of part of the lands in question. An objection to acquisition has been lodged and judgment thereon has been reserved for the present.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission have acquired the Ashe estate at Narraghmore, Athy, County Kildare; and, if so, when the lands will be divided.

The proceedings in this case have reached an advanced stage but the lands have not yet been acquired.
