Vol. 136 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Publication of Agricultural Wages.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether the Agricultural Wages Board proposes to publish the official version of the revised agricultural wages and new rules as regards half-holidays, scheduled to come into effect on 23rd February; and, if so, when.

An advertisement regarding the requirements of the Agricultural Workers (Weekly Half-Holidays) Act, 1952, the Agricultural Wages (Minimum Rates) (Weekly Half-Holidays) Order, 1953, and the Agricultural Wages(Minimum Rates) Order, 1953, was published by the Agricultural Wages Board in the daily newspapers on the 21st February. The advertisement will be repeated in the provincial Press during the present week.

There is a bit of confusion down the country among the farmers with regard to the 50-hour week and the 48-hour week. They do not know which to go by. They want the position about the half-day clarified.
