Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Live-Stock Decline.

asked the Taoiseach whether he has received any evidence of a decline in the number of (a) cattle, (b) sheep, or (c) pigs in Ireland during the last year.

Preliminary results of the recent live-stock enumeration show that it is estimated that there were 3,872,100 cattle, 2,121,300 sheep and 764,700 pigs in the country on 1st January, 1953, compared with the estimates of 3,854,600 cattle, 2,004,600 sheep and 551,400 pigs on 1st January, 1952.
