Vol. 136 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Inquiry into Aer Lingus Plane Crash.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state if he proposes to hold an inquiry into the crash of the Aer Lingus plane St. Kieran which took place at Spernal Ash, Birmingham, on the 1st January, 1953, and if he has any statement to make in the matter.

Immediately after the accident to which the question refers the British Minister of Civil Aviation instituted a preliminary investigation with which an officer of my Department was associated. No formal report of that investigation has been issued, but it has recently become necessary for me to consider the question of holding a public inquiry into this accident and an announcement on the matter may be made at an early date.
