Vol. 136 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Milk Inspections.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the number of samples of milk for domestic consumption examined in the year 1952, indicating the number of each category found unsuitable for human consumption in the case of (1) highest grade milk, (2) pasteurised milk, and (3) loose milk unpasteurised.

Mr. Walsh

I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate with the Official Report a statement showing the numbers of samples of (1) highest grade milk and (2) pasteurised milk tested in 1952, and the numbers that failed the different tests. As regards the suitability for human consumption of the samples which failed the tests, I would refer the Deputy to my replies to questions by him in this matter on 13th and 26th March, 1952. Data in respect of (3) loose unpasteruised milk will not be available from local authorities for another couple of months.

Following is the statement:—
