Vol. 136 No. 12

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Items Nos. 1, 2, 10, 10 (a), 11, 12, 8, 13, 14— Votes 67 and 15.

I take it that the Supplementary Estimate for Health will be debated on the Second Reading of the Bill?

We have been happy to collaborate in the despatch of business by suspending Standing Orders for the purpose of meeting at 2 o'clock each day and continuing until 11.30. I should like to inquire of the Tánaiste if, in the light of that, it is rational to expect that kind of co-operation to continue, if a Minister of the Government can casually intervene in the proceedings at 11 o'clock and ask leave to move the Adjournment of the Dáil and succeed, with the Government majority, in adjourning the House at 11 o'clock. Although an agreement has been made between the Whips and, as I understand, between the Tánaiste, on behalf of the Government, and the Leader of the Opposition, that, to meet the Government's convenience, we would meet at 2 p.m. and sit until 11.30 p.m., I should be glad if the Tánaiste would indicate, if such arrangements are proposed from the Government side again in the future, that kind of irresponsible gesture will not be employed for the purpose of tearing up such agreements?

I should be sorry to think that at any time irritation on any side of the House should upset our arrangements.

May I point out that the entire Fine Gael Party, Clann na Talmhan Party and Clann na Poblachta Party cleared out of the House at 11 o'clock?

Do you blame us, when you got up?

The Deputy can always be guaranteed to clear the House.

There is a pair of them in it—pretty Fanny and himself.
