Vol. 138 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - New Ross Harbour.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the present position with regard to the New Ross Harbour Board's proposals for the improvement of New Ross Harbour.

The New Ross Harbour Commissioners were informed on 3rd February last that a grant would be made available from State funds to meet half the cost of the proposed new jetty, estimated at £38,000, subject to the other half of the cost being met from local sources.

When the harbour commissioners have concluded satisfactory arrangements for securing the local contributions it will be necessary for them to enter into a formal agreement with me in regard to the carrying out and financing of the work. Arrangements will then be made to have the work carried out by or under the supervision of the Commissioners of Public Works.
