Vol. 138 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Sports Field.

Mr. O'Higgins

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that the Land Commission proposes to acquire the present parish sports field at Ballyadding,Ballybrittas, County Laois, substituting for it another field which is outside the Parish of Emo, and that this proposal has evoked considerable local opposition; and, if so, whether he will urge the Land Commission to abandon this proposal.

The sports field at Ballyadding was held by trustees for persons, organisations or clubs in Ballybrittas or its vicinity. At the request of the trustees, a sports field was provided in Ballybrittas townland in exchange for that in Ballyadding. The present field is nearer to the village of Ballybrittas—and to Emo—and is more conveniently located for the purposes of the trust.
