Vol. 138 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - E.S.B. Fishing Restrictions.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that the Limerick Anglers' Association alleges that unfair restrictions on fishing are being enforced against its members by the E.S.B. in the Limerick area on the River Shannon; and, if so, if he will consider holding an inquiry for the purpose of having those allegations investigated and giving the E.S.B. an opportunity of stating their reasons for the alleged restrictions.

Under statute the duties of managing, conducting and preserving the Shannon fisheries have been vested in the E.S.B. I have, therefore, no function in the matter. I do not consider that there is any good reason for an inquiry as suggested by the Deputy.
