Vol. 139 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Bowling Legislation.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will introduce proposals for legislation to legalise the traditional game of road bowling which has been played in the South of Ireland for generations and, if necessary, to provide for certain safety regulations to be observed by followers of this sport.

The answer is in the negative.

Does that go for sleighing, too?

Mr. Boland

It goes for the whole country.

Is the Minister aware that so long as there are Corkmen in Cork this game will be played? The R.I.C. and the Black and Tans failed to beat it out of the county. It was featured as an attraction during An Tóstal and it is featured in the tourist publications of Bord Fáilte.

The Deputy is making a speech and not asking a question.
