Vol. 139 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Creameries.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware of the necessity for the erection of an auxiliary creamery at Kilgobinet, Beaufort, for the service of a portable creamery at Cromane and Caragh Lake; and, if so, if he is in a position to make an announcement in the matter.

Mr. Walsh

As regards the question of the erection of a cream-separating station at Kilgobinet where there already is a travelling creamery stop, I would refer the Deputy to the reply which I gave on 18th February, 1953, to a similar question asked by Deputy Palmer.

As regards creamery facilities in the Cromane and Caragh Lake districts, I would refer the Deputy to my reply to his question of the 26th March, 1953, on the same subject. The investigation of the local milk supply position which I informed the Deputy was being carried out by the Dairy Disposal Company has not yet been completed.

When the report is available, will the Minister see his way to group the districts of Carragh Lake, Cromane, and Kilgobinet with a view to having a branch creamery at Kilgobinet and a travelling creamery at Cromane and Carragh Lake? That would be the most economical way of dealing with the three districts.

Mr. Walsh

Every consideration will be given to these questions.
