Vol. 140 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Tenant Purchase Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state (a) when the Dublin County Council sent on their recommendations to his Department to permit council tenants to purchase their cottages, (b) what was the proposed purchase rent per week,(c) whether the council took into consideration the free grant given for each cottage by his Department, and (d) when the council's proposals will be sanctioned.

(a) 23rd March, 1953. (b) 15/-. With regard to (c), the proposed annuity is only 50 per cent. of the average economic rent of post-war serviced cottages in the county. The difference between the annuity and the charges falling on the council in respect of these cottages is to be met by contributions from public funds, including the State grant. (d) A decision will issue to the council shortly.
