Vol. 140 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Telegraphs Office Vacancies.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will now state when it is proposed to fill three vacancies on the overseer class in the Central Telegraphs Office, Dublin.

I am not yet in a position to say when the vacancies will be filled. Decisions have not yet been taken on all the matters referred to in my reply of the 13th May but there will be no avoidable delay in doing so.

In view of the fact that two of these vacancies have existed for approximately three years and one for 12 months, and as he indicated about six weeks ago that it was likely this matter would be subject to a reasonably early decision, can he not say definitely now when there is likely to be a decision in the matter as a long time has elapsed since the vacancies first occurred?

Everything will be done to expedite decision. I am unable to state when the decision will be reached.

Does the Minister's indication six weeks ago that an early decision would be reached still stand?

I would say so.
