Vol. 140 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Licences for Industrial Projects.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state if any licences have been issued by his Department in regard to industrial projects in the Fermoy area; and, ifso, if he will state the date of issue of such licences.

I assume that the Deputy has in mind licences under the Control of Manufactures Acts, 1932 and 1934.

One new manufacture licence under these Acts was issued on the 17th June, 1953, in respect of an industrial project in the Fermoy area.

I understand that a second industrial project for the Fermoy area is being initiated by private interests following discussions in my Department. The Deputy will appreciate that an Irish company, complying with the Control of Manufactures Acts, may be set up for the purpose of a new industrial undertaking, without requiring a new manufacture licence.
