Vol. 141 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Demand for Drainage Pipes.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware of the anxiety among tile manufacturers due to the demand for drainage pipes not keeping pace with production, and, if so, if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am not aware of any anxiety among manufacturers of drainage pipes of the clay variety. I am informed, however, that there are stocks of concrete pipes at two centres in the disposal of which there is some difficulty, mainly because the demand is limited in some areas by the existence of soil conditions which preclude the use of this type of pipe.
