Vol. 141 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of Delvin River.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will sanction a scheme immediately for the drainage of the Delvin River near Naul, County Dublin, under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, because a number of applications of farmers near the Meath County boundary cannot be approvedfor land drainage grants until the Delvin River is cleaned and deepened near Naul.

Having regard to the present commitments of the Commissioners of Public Works and the extent of the arterial drainage programme for major rivers throughout the county, a scheme under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, for the Delvin River is unlikely to be reached for a considerable time.
