Vol. 143 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bread Prices.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the fall in the price of imported wheat, a reduction in the price of bread may be expected.

This country's requirements of imported wheat are purchased under the terms of the International Wheat Agreements. The range of prices in the current agreement are higher than those under the agreement which expired on July, 1953. Consequently there has been no fall in the price of imported wheat used here and the latter part of the question does not arise.

Is it correct that there has been quite a steep fall in the world market price of wheat?

There has been no fall at all?

As compared with last year, no.

In the world market price?
