The net interest charge on Government borrowings was £5,016,231 in 1951-52 and £5,818,270 in 1952-53 and is estimated at £7,640,000 for the current financial year. The figures for last year and this year allow for transfers to the Exchequer from the American Loan Counterpart Fund pursuant to Section 4 (4) of the Central Fund Act, 1949.
