Vol. 143 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Post Office.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state the total cost of the transfer of the post office at Kilkerrin, Ballinasloe, County Galway, from its original situation to that of the new postmaster.

The cost of removal is estimated at £2 10/- approximately.

Has the Department been involved in the cost of the transfer? Has the transfer taken place?

I am not sure exactly what the position is.

What sort of Minister are you if you are not aware? Is the Minister aware that it took place yesterday with about 40 Guards there?

I am aware that the transfer is about to take place. I am not able to say within how many hours it is taking place. Does the Deputy want to know any more?

It has taken place since yesterday.

It is quite possible. I was not sure within the exact number of hours when it was about to take place.

You would need to be aware.

Does the £2 10/- include the cost of the Guards brought there for the purpose?

That is another question.

This is the Minister who is characteristic of the Irish.
