asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will indicate in respect of the last week of November, 1953, the number of registered unemployed at each of the following employment exchanges: Clonakilty, Skibbereen, Bantry, Dunmanway, Drimoleague, Kilcashin electoral division, Castletownbere and Ballineen.

The numbers of persons registered on Saturday, the 28th November, 1953, at the local offices of my Department mentioned in the question were as follows :—

Clonakilty

115

Skibbereen

252

Bantry

227

Dunmanway

94

Castletownbere

556

Statistics are not compiled which would show the numbers of persons registered at local offices who reside in places that have not defined boundaries such as Drimoleague and Ballineen. The numbers from Drimoleague area registered on the 28th November, 1953, are included in the figures I have given for Dunmanway local office. Ballineen area is served by both Dunmanway and Bandon local offices. The number registered at Bandon local office on the 28th November, 1953, was 72.

The number of persons resident in the district electoral division of Kilcashin registered at the Bantry local office on the 28th November, 1953, and included in the figures which I have given for that office was 73.
