Vol. 143 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tendency to Free Markets.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the tendency of world trade towards free markets, he will indicate how this trend will operate towards such of our industries as are protected by tariffs and export quotas.

Compliance with our obligations regarding the liberalisation of international trade has not so far affected the protection afforded to Irish industry and I foresee no difficulty in maintaining that position for the future.
