Vol. 144 No. 1

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - County Wexford Afforestation.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what lands are at present available to his Department in County Wexford for the purpose of afforestation.

On 31st March, 1953, the plantable reserve of land at the County Wexford forests totalled 373 acres.

Could the Minister say if advertisements have been placed recently in the Wexford papers inviting land for the purpose of afforestation?

Leaflets have been issued to the annuitants of the Land Commission in the county. I am hopeful that, as a result of these advertisements and the co-operation of Deputies, more land will be offered in County Wexford for forestry purposes.

The point I am trying to establish is whether advertisements have been inserted in the newspapers.

I think that circularising the annuitants is the best form of advertisement. I cannot really say whether we are advertising; I think we are.
