Vol. 144 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tea.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state if the tea sold all over the country for some time past and being sold at present contains a dye; and, if so, if he has had the matter examined as to its effect on the health of the users; and if the Government intend to take the necessary steps to see that only pure undyed tea is imported.

I have no evidence to support the implication in the Deputy's question. If, however, he will furnish me with any information which may be in his possession, I shall have the matter investigated.

Could the Minister say how long the tea in stock in this country has been in circulation?

I think I would want notice of that question. I probably would have to pass it on to another Minister to answer it.

Does the Minister seriously tell us that a great proportion of tea being supplied does not contain a dye of some sort?

Not that I know of.

Perhaps the Minister was not drinking it.

The Deputy must be drinking some queer tea.
