Vol. 144 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Milk for Rural School Children.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether, in view of the hardship and long hours away from home endured by some children in rural areas through having to go a long distance to school on very bad roads and often in very inclement weather, he will consider introducing proposals for legislation providing that each child will get a half pint of hot milk each day at lunch time in their schools in winter and cold milk in the summer months.

I am not prepared at present to introduce legislation for the purpose referred to by the Deputy.
