Vol. 144 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Congestion in County Mayo.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will indicate the steps taken by the Land Commission to relieve the congestion and improve the conditions in the townland of Drumminwonagh, County Mayo, and neighbouring townlands; and if there is a likelihood that the necessary action will be carried out this spring.

The holdings in the townland of Drumminwonagh were enlarged, as far as practicable, before being vested in the tenant purchasers and there is no immediate prospect of any additional lands becoming available for distribution in that area.

Do I understand from the Minister's reply that it is the intention of the Land Commission not to rearrange or improve that particular townland further?

There is no land available, I am afraid, for the purpose. We are trying to give priority to cases which have not been already vested.
