Vol. 144 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Industrial Alcohol Factories.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state (a) the number of employees employed at the date of closing of the industrial alcohol factories, and (b) the total profit or loss of each of the closed factories since they commenced business.

The Deputy appears to be under a misapprehension. None of the industrial alcohol factories has been closed. All these factories are continuing in production for the present season. As regards (b), I am informed by Ceimici Teoranta that a separate trading account is not kept for each factory. Copies of the balance sheet and profit and loss account of Ceimici Teoranta are laid before Dáil Éireann annually by the Minister for Finance in accordance with Section 18, sub-section (4) of the Industrial Alcohol Act, 1938.
