Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Acquisition in Tipperary.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the name, location and acreage of the lands acquired by the Land Commission in Tipperary, North Riding, from 1950 to date; and if he will give particulars of the lands allotted in the same area for the same period.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with the Ceann Comhairle's permission, to have it circulated in the Official Report.

In addition, various smaller units were surrendered to the Land Commission through exchanges and rearrangements.

(II) Lands allotted in the North Riding of Tipperary since 1st January, 1950. Up to end of February, 1954, the total area allotted has been 1,261 acres and in addition it is expected that another 513 acres will be allotted during the present month.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the acreage and location of lands acquired in Tipperary, North Riding, since 1950 for forestry purposes, and the number of acres planted in the same area for the same period.

From 1st April, 1950, to 31st March, 1953, 1,506 acres of land were acquired as follows for forestry purposes in Tipperary North Riding:—

Newport Forest

677 acres

Roscrea Forest

196 acres

Silvermines Forest

478 acres

Templederry Forest

155 acres

A total of 840 acres was planted at these forests during the same period.
