asked the Minister for Local Government if he will furnish details of the total amounts allocated to each local authority from the National Development Fund up to the end of February, 1954, and particulars of the schemes for which these amounts were sanctioned.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - National Development Fund.
A grant of £1,000,000 has been made available from the National Development Fund to the Road Fund and approximately the full amount of this has been allocated to local authorities for road works. A further sum of £38,100 out of the Gaeltacht allocation from the National Development Fund has been allocated to certain county councils for road works in the Fíor Ghaeltacht areas. Details of these grants are given on a table which, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, will be circulated with the Official Report. A sum of £100,000 granted from the National Development Fund for schemes under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949, has enabled increased grants for these works for the current financial year to be allocated; this sum has not been allocated to particular schemes. A sum slightly short of £300,000 has also been allocated to local authorities for urban employment schemes out of the National Development Fund grant for employment schemes for the current financial year.
