Vol. 144 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Government (Superannuation) Act, 1948.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that a number of established local authority servants who gave service in the Defence Forces will not be given credit for this service for pension purposes when they retire under the Local Government (Superannuation) Act, 1948; and, if so, if he will consider introducing proposals for legislation to amend the Act so that either the whole of the period served in the Defence Forces, or part of it at least, will count as service with the local authority under which the persons concerned are normally employed.

This matter is being examined in connection with the proposals for legislation to amend the Local Government (Superannuation) Act, 1948.
