Vol. 144 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish Whiskey Exports.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether the discussions between Córas Tráchtála Teoranta and interested parties in regard to the export of Irish whiskey as outlined by him in his reply on the Estimate for his Department (Official Report, Volume 142, No. 9, columns 1401, 1402) have yet been concluded; whether Córas Tráchtála Teoranta have yet furnished him with a report on the matter: and, if so, the nature of the report.

I understand that discussions between Córas Tráchtála Teoranta and the whiskey distillers are still proceeding. A report in the matter has not yet been made to me.

Does the Minister expect to have the report in the near future?

I could not say. The report on the market survey was only received by Córas Tráchtála last week.

Is it not a fact that Córas Tráchtála have recommended to the distillers that they should embark on the production of a blended whiskey for the American market?

I do not know.

According to Press reports, they have.
