Vol. 144 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Collection of Land Annuities— County Mayo.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that a number of tenants in the townlands of Ballin-stokagh, Carramacintyre, Carrickat and Logboy did not have their receivable orders returned to them on the occasion of their being sent with the December, 1952, half-year's annuity, that no six days' notice or receivable order was sent to these tenants prior to November, 1953, when collection was put in the hands of the county registrar without notice and that these tenants were under the obligation of paying county registrar's fees over and above the annuity due and if the Land Commission will have inquiries made into the matter and the fees refunded in each case, in view of the fact that the oversight was not the fault of the tenants.

I am aware of the position generally. In this instance there was a temporary breakdown on the usual collection procedure and it is being rectified by making refunds to the tenants affected. The total amount to be refunded is £6 1s. 0d.
