Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - West Cork Forestry Progress.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will indicate the progress of the Forestry Division of his Department in West Cork up to 31st December, 1953.

There are five forests in West Cork, viz., Bandon, Dunmanway, Inchigeela, Macroom and Roscarbery. The total area of land held at these centres on the 31st December, 1953. was 6,392 acres. The vacant land available for planting amounted to 1,583 acres, of which 557 acres are included in the planting programme for the 1953-54 season. The number employed at the five forests at the end of December, 1953, was 88.
