Vol. 144 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Castledermot Telephone Facilities.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware of the urgent need for the installation of a public telephone call box outside the post office in Castledermot, which would be connected with the continuous exchange in Carlow when the sub-post office in Castledermot is closed so that in cases of urgency telephone messages could be sent outside the hours during which the local exchange is open; and, if so, whether he will make the necessary arrangements in the matter.

I assume that what the Deputy has in mind is the erection of a street kiosk. The provision of this facility at Castledermot would not, I regret, be warranted at present by the use likely to be made of it. Telephone service will be continuous from Castledermot in the immediate future.
