Vol. 145 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Greenmount Industrial School Grants.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that the Government and local authority grants per pupil for the Greenmount Industrial School, Cork, are now entirely inadequate for the maintenance of the children and the defraying of overhead expenses; and, if so, if he will arrange for an increase in the financial provisions so as to enable the authorities of the school to carry on their work in a satisfactory manner.

Representations have been made by the Association of Resident Managers of Reformatory and Industrial Schools for an increase in the present rates of State and local authority maintenance grants payable in respect of youthful offenders and children under detention in these schools and the matter is under examination.
