Vol. 145 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - West Cork Water Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state whether sanction has been given for the commencing of work on water schemes for (a) Glandore, Union Hall; (b) Roscarbery; (c) Ballinamore, and (d) Bantry.

The acceptance of a tender for a water supply scheme to serve Leap, Glandore and Union Hall was approved in 1950 but the contract was not signed. In 1951, a new proposal to include Roscarbery was submitted and approved. Last November the western committee of the Cork County Council considered further variations in the scheme on the basis of a separate scheme for Roscarbery but did not reach a final decision.

I presume that the Deputy's reference to Ballinamore should read Baltimore. Approval has been given to the preparation of contract documents for a scheme based on an experimental bore-hole supply.

Final documents for an improvement scheme for Bantry have been approved and the acceptance of a tender has been sanctioned.
