Vol. 145 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tory Island—Radio Telephone.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state if and when it is proposed to have installed the new radio telephone service to Tory Island.

Weather conditions have prevented the setting up of the radio equipment on any of the four Donegal islands for which equipment is now ready, particularly in the case of Tory where no night accommodation is available.

Work on the nearest islands will commence in the next three weeks. The link to Tory Island will be completed when the weather becomes sufficiently moderate to ensure a reasonable working period each day, and should it be technically convenient, the work on the links for the smaller islands will be suspended in order that the specialist staff can complete the installation on this island where the population is larger.
