Vol. 145 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Roscommon Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what progress has been made by the Land Commission towards the acquisition of the O'Malley farm, Rathconnor, County Roscommon, for the purpose of division amongst deserving applicants.

The Land Commission have called for a detailed report on, and valuation of, this estate.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what progress has been made by the Land Commission towards the acquisition of the Watson estate, formerly the Hanley estate, Mountveagh, Strokestown.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what progress has been made by the Land Commission towards the acquisition of Mr. John McNaughton's lands of approximately 400 acres, on the Thomastown demesne, County Roscommon.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 16 and 18 together.

The Land Commission obtained possession of both these estates in recent weeks.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission have yet prepared a scheme for the division of the Carroll and Henry farms, Aughlahard Lackin, Strokestown, County Roscommon; and, if so, when the scheme is likely to be put into operation.

It is hoped to allot these lands at an early date.

Is the Minister in a position to give an idea as to what the Land Commission's interpretation of "an early date" is, or would that be an embarrassing question for them?

It is not embarrassing in this particular instance. A composite scheme has been approved and it is hoped to have the land allotted before the end of the present month.
