Vol. 145 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork County Water Supply.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that at present there is a serious complaint in the Kildorrery and Rockmills district, County Cork, from residents who have to use river water for domestic purposes because they believe that the sewage from Kildorrery village is being discharged into this river without being properly treated; and, if so, if he will state what action he proposes to take in the matter.

asked the Minister for Local Government if there are plans in his Department for the provision of a water supply for Kildorrery and Rockmills, County Cork; and, if so, if he will state when work on these schemes is likely to commence.

I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 31 and 32 together. I have no information on the complaint mentioned by the Deputy. Plans and specification for a combined water supply scheme to serve these villages have been approved, and final documents are now awaited.

I wonder if the Minister for Local Government would inquire from Dr. Connolly, the medical officer for County Cork, if there is a complaint regarding the disposal of sewage into the river at Kildorrery?

As far as I am aware, the complaint has been disposed of to the satisfaction of everyone concerned.
