Vol. 145 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Facilities for Walkinstown (County Dublin).

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that the failure of the local authority to provide public lighting and footpaths at New Road, Walkinstown, is causing hardship to the residents in the area; and, if so, if he will take such steps as are necessary to ensure that these facilities are provided forthwith.

I understand that the new road to which the Deputy refers is probably Walkinstown Drive and that the section of this road immediately adjoining Walkinstown Road forms part of a private development scheme which the developer has only recently applied to have taken over by the Dublin Corporation. That body is at present considering the application.

I am informed that a further section of this road has been laid by the Dublin Corporation with footpaths and that arrangements are being made with the E.S.B. for lighting which will probably be available in two or three weeks.
