Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tourist Traffic Act, 1952.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state (1) the number of applications for guaranteed loans under Section 17 of the Tourist Traffic Act, 1952, (a) received by An Bord Fáilte, (b) sanctioned and (c) refused; (2) the terms and conditions decided upon by the Minister for Finance in respect of such loans under Section 17 (II) of the Act, and (3) the number of local development companies formed with the encouragement of An Bord Fáilte under Section 6 of the Act.

The following are the particulars sought by the Deputy concerning applications for the guarantee of loans under Section 17 of the Tourist Traffic Act, 1952:—

Three applications were made for loans required for provision of amenities and services at tourist resorts all of which are under consideration.

The facilities for the guaranteeing of loans under this Act are administered by An Bord Fáilte on terms and conditions determined by me with the sanction of the Minister for Finance. Details of these terms and conditions may be had on application to the board.

Six local development companies have been registered under the Companies Acts, 1908 to 1924, with the encouragement of An Bord Fáilte under Section 6 of the Tourist Traffic Act, 1952. Nineteen other such companies are at present in course of formation.
