Vol. 145 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Water Supplies.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that a deputation from Ballincolla, Ballyferitter district, Dingle, appeared before a recent meeting of Kerry County Council requesting an extension of the water supply from Ballyferitter village; and, if so, if he will now state if his Department will allocate a grant from the National Development Fund to cover the full cost, as this is a scheme designed to improve conditions in the Gaeltacht.

The Kerry County Council have not submitted any proposal to my Department for an extension of the Ballyferitter water supply to Ballincolla nor have they included any such proposal in the schedule of works submitted for consideration in connection with the National Development Fund.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that a deputation from the Milltown area, Dingle, County Kerry, appeared before a recent meeting of the county council requesting an extension of the water supply from Dingle; and if, in view of the fact that a Gaeltacht area is involved, he will now give a grant from the National Development Fund to cover the full cost.

A decision to extend the Dingle water supply to Milltown is a matter for the sanitary authority in the first instance. A proposal for such an extension has not been submitted to my Department by the Kerry County Council nor included in the schedule of works submitted by them for consideration in connection with the National Development Fund.
