Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - C.I.E. Superannuation.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state in respect of the C.I.E. superannuation schemes (a) the number of employees covered, (b) the annual income from employees' contributions, and the company's contribution in each of the last three years, (c) the number of pensioners at a recent convenient date and the weekly amount paid in pensions and (d) the amount standing to the credit of the schemes at the latest available date.

I am informed by C.I.E. that the number of employees covered by their superannuation schemes is 16,456. The members' contribution in each of the last three years amounted to £70,275; £95,268 and £97,899, respectively. The board's contributions in the same periods were £210,808; £243,020 and £239,644. At a recent date the number of pensioners was £2,002 and the weekly amount paid to them was £2,589; the amount standing to credit of the schemes was £3,103,400.
