Vol. 145 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Promotion of Seaweed Exports.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that a Tralee firm was the first if not the only firm in this country exporting carrageen and all types of seaweed to the United States of America for dollars; and, if so, whether he will now state if his Department has given any help financially or otherwise to this firm in promoting the export of carrageen and seaweed to the United States of America for dollars.

I am aware that the firm referred to has been exporting seaweed to the United States of America. I understand that this firm has availed itself of the facilities provided by Córas Tráchtála Teo., the company established by the Government to assist firms engaged in exports to the dollar area.
