asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the quantity of (1) Irish wheat purchased for milling from 1953 harvest, (2) the quantity not yet used and (3) the quantity of imported wheat mixed with the Irish wheat already used for flour and breadmaking from 1st October, 1953, up to the latest available date.

The information sought by the Deputy is as follows:—(1) The quantity of Irish wheat from the 1953 harvest purchased for milling up to the 10th April, 1954, amounted to 2,579,468 barrels (green) or 322,433 tons. (2) The quantity of native wheat of the 1953 harvest held in stock by millers on the 10th April, 1954, was 1,204,570 barrels (dried) or 150,571 tons. (3) The quantity of imported wheat mixed with Irish wheat for the production of flour during the period 3rd October, 1953, to the 10th April, 1954, was 70,874 tons.
